I’m sorry, what’s that you say? Another post where I gush on and on about how amazing Ushvani products are, another!? Yes, I’m afraid it’s time. I did try to space them out for what it’s worth!! I genuinely find my love for Ushvani the spa (how I DREAM of being able to afford going back!) and Ushvani the brand one and the same. The spa is tranquil and their attention to detail impeccable and I’m incredibly pleased to say that for the price you pay in their spas the same focus is paid to their products. I couldn’t live without their balm soothing and breaking apart my knotted and sore muscles (I’m actually on my second tub of balm!) and as someone who doesn’t even like limes or their smell…this lotion is an exception.
One of the things that pleases me most about this lotion/butter is that the two main ingredients (after water) are coconut milk and shea butter. I can’t remember the last time I bought a product and the major ingredients were part of the advertised ingredients. In Rahua shampoo/conditioner (£50+ for the pair it’s the 12th or 13th ingredient [maybe because you need so little for it to be effective]) and usually that is the trend. Maybe it is different with lotion, I’m not a cosmetic scientist, I honestly couldn’t tell you how these things are put together and why the “special” ingredients often come at the end…but with this product the “special” ingredients come first. That just pleases me, not to mention you need very little because it goes such a long way and sinks in so beautifully. Granted the lime isn’t until the end but as it’s just a hint of lime instead of an overpowering smell that pleases me because if all I could smell was lime…I wouldn’t like this!!
I will say I haven’t been keeping my lotion refrigerated and so far nothing bad has happened. Mostly because I don’t want freezing cold lotion in the winter….but it’s probably best kept in your fridge because of the lack of massive preservatives (another plus in my book). I know I sound like a huge fangirl but I can’t help it. The products are formulated well, packaged well (in their boxes and in their actual product packaging) and last for ages. We should all be a slight sucker for packaging, I know I was taught that my appearance mattered so shouldn’t the appearance of my products matter? Whether they choose to be sleek and modern or cheeky and retro or just simple and straightforward…you better believe someone somewhere put a lot of thought into it!
I did have the option of purchasing just the “Coconut and Kemiri Butter” for cheaper but I went with this, more expensive option as it’s better suited to very dry skin (and if I spent over £40 on Ushvani products I walked away with a free Ushvani balm! Even though that was months ago I thought I’d wait and use this butter during the winter months when my skin really struggles and see how it really copes with dry skin! Then give an honest review). Every winter I deal with taut skin that just hurts, it hurts being stretched over my bones and fat and joints and every winter I suffer. This winter has been no exception, the London winters are hard because you moisturise and the air seems to suck all the water and moisture out of your body leaving you feeling quite mummified. I slather my face and skin in oils and lock them in with lotions like this (and use this as a base and it sinks in beautifully despite a few slippery moments) and as the moisture from my top layer gets sucked away (ouch!) I still have layers underneath to protect my skin but this (and suncream!) make a great defense from the cruel stripping London winters.
It even looks delicious. I think I’m going to go put some on now!
I purchased my Ushvani Coconut and Kaffir Lime Butter for £42 at CultBeauty *for the record I purchased mine back in October time and I’ve barely made a dent. So it might cost a lot up front but it lasts for ages!*
